I was thinking the same to just remove Checkstyle from this repo, but would like to hear Christian's opinion.
The error messages relate to the Checkstyle builder being listed in Eclipse's build config which cannot be executed. To make it work again without removing, some Checkstyle configuration would need to be included, but I have never really used it before to say anything specific and would advocate for removal.
