This should mostly be resolved with KIF 2.0. You can now insert breakpoints between test steps and inspect the app that way without interrupting your tests.

It would be interesting to take on an approach where is a time far greater than 100ms elapses between steps, we assume a breakpoint was hit and we update the end time.
