I wonder if this enhancement could potentially solve another issue, being ownership of repos for maintainers / kiss development work. For example, since I do not prefer to use update as a regular user, one problem I do occasionally run in to is messing up the file ownership of my development repos when my system upgrades, my regular user might be unable to edit files. I admit this is all my own fault for being stubborn. For example though, if this feature were implemented, I could develop on kiss repos using the user "kiss". 1. I would not be developing as root. 2. I would no longer be having file ownership problems. 3. I wouldn't be nagged with my su / sudo password when running updates from root, because root would be handing off the job to my build user.

Or maybe it's a group that would be needed for this. I'm not thinking clearly right now.

The more I think about this thing the more I like how simple everything is right now.
