Instead of having a specific target for just building the C libraries, the make file was updated so that by default it builds the C libraries plus then builds using the SPM to build Phoenix.

Sort of another conversation- but instead of a Makefile I wonder if I should have followed Apple's lead in using Ninja for builds.

Maybe... but since either 'ninja' or 'make' would be the final solution, I would not worry about it. The ultimate goal is to use SPM to build everything.

Ninja is probably overkill for Phoenix. While the pot o' gold at the end of the rainbow is SPM, unless Swift takes over the world, IMHO, the Make system will always be around. Unfortunately (?) I've been around since its beginning and while I've seen many "wannabe"s that say they're better and broader none have so far come close. I don't think that'll change.
