I think this was because I didn't instantiate a UIWindow object or something, cause setting its viewControllers property works, but pushing view controllers doesn't.

Can this issue be closed, then? Sounds like it's no longer a problem.

@joshuatbrown, yeah, I'm not sure if it's an issue. I just made a guess at why this was breaking. Perhaps it should be investigated further. It'd be nice to throw a warning or error if someone tries to push a view controller w/o first setting up a uiwindow (I'm not even sure if that's why it was hanging.). Or, at least putting a section in the readme about unit testing stuff that involves UI manipulation.
