In particular, I don't think would help metamers, but MAD Competition could use it for the four types of images, which would simplify that code a fair amount.

attributes should still make use of a fifth dimension then, so it doesn't conflict with that.

Given the changes to MADCompetition
(#136) , I don't think using batch dimension in the way discussed above makes sense, so I'm going to close this.
There's a possibly interesting use for Metamer
(or an extension of it), where we try to synthesize multiple images (indexed along batch) that are all metamers but as different from each other as possible. I'm going to open a new issue for this.
