Ok, added - when you create the client, you can now pass in a timeout and connectTimeout (the latter for sockets). timeout is a global setting, and applies to all operations (note it will not shut down the client, just that operation). You can set the property timeout anytime later on on the client as well. The default is not to use one. I thought about setting a per-operation timeout, but it didn't seem tremendously useful right now (generally, people want this for searches, which usually take longer than everything else). I can if others find that useful though.
