Hi. This is actually not as easy as it might seem, since we must decide whether the $
or $$
is opening or closing an indent block. Further, it is not clear HOW this should be indented. Even further, it is difficult to see exactly how people use $
Β and $$
. That is, personally I use $
inline, which means I think it should not really be indented since it is part of the text. In the very few cases I have used $$
I put it at the beginning of a line similar to \[
.
I could consinder implementing some indentation, but we must first agree how these constructs are/should be used, and how they should be indented. I personally think we should not care about indenting $
s, but perhaps $$
s should be indented.

As a side note, to get an impression of the scope of this problem, perhaps the following quote I stumbled upon at http://tex.stackexchange.com/questions/510/are-and-preferable-to-dollar-signs-for-math-mode is of interest:
... I remember hearing knuth say that if he were creating tex all over again, he wouldn't use a "toggle" approach for math mode, but would use a clean begin/end notation.

Thanks, that's an interesting thread, and it seems to better explain the problems I mentioned.
