As is often the case, it appears that there is multiple ways to implement the same "standard". The original document at intel has been moved from the location cited in the BoofCV code to

Not surprisingly, that document appears to agree with the BoofCV source code and cites a paper for its source. So I tried to go to the original 1985 paper cited by intel to see if they left out some important details

and have been unsuccessful at finding the complete text. books.google.com has a highly abridged version. It's going to be at a bit of an impasse until a more authoritative source is found to justify the equations on EasyRGB.
