The window automatically gets closed when the main console is garbage collected. And you can call tdl.init at anytime to reopen the window or to change the options. It's completely unreliable and prone to race conditions so I definitely need to add a proper shutdown function. I'll start working on that once I'm finished forking the cffi code.
Just found a massive bug in Console.del, looks like the main console was never deleted ever. I'll try to fix all this as quickly as I can.

On inspection, the specifics of what happens when you close the root console in libtcod are very undefined. Even with multiple init calls libtcod tends to become stuck on whatever options it was started with unless it has a specific function to change them. There's also the libtcod documentation that specifically says not to close the root console.
I don't think I'll be able to add an option to manually close the window until it becomes better supported by libtcod itself in a later version.
