My PERL skills were not up to the task. I wasn't wildly surprised.
I have, though, been able to create the record using the API directly with no problems, so this does appear to be a linode-cli issue and not an API one.

Jason, thanks for reporting the error. After investigating your issue, it turned out to be something on our end, which was resolved. The fix did not require any code changes to CLI itself. You should no longer encounter the error, and please let me know if you do. Once again, thank you for reporting it and for providing details.
