In LiveAuthClient.TryRefreshToken
, there's a comment that says
// The user might have revoked one of the scopes while the app is running. Try getting a token for the remaining scopes
// by passing in only the "wl.signin" scope. The server should return a token that contains all remaining scopes.
What is meant by "all remaining scopes"? If you request only wl.signin, will the token be valid for scopes you didn't request?

Digging into TailoredAuthClient, there's GetAccessToken
. This can be ripped out and customized only a little. If you build your scopes string yourself, it'll give you a new access token. Woohoo, a thing that works!

For "all remaining scopes" - the auth token issued by MSA is valid for all scopes the user has consented to for the application, even if the app isn't currently requesting those scopes. This is the same reason you can see the authorization prompt include more scope messages than the app requested, if it has in the past asked for those scopes and been granted them.
