Same here: while calling API gateway => Lambda, got this:
"Unable to run Lambda function on API Gateway message: An error occurred (NotFoundException) when calling the GetStage operation: Invalid stage identifier specified Traceback (most recent call last):"
sls deployment also has some problems, if I put region, then it failed; if I put mountCode: true, deployment failed. Without them, it got deployed.

from aws-cdk-local.
