The icon only task manager supports both the DockManager and Unity api. Docky-thunderbird works well under KDE when one minor modification is made. Simply replace everything following the ###### above the try-except block with: ``` class KDEDBus(DockyDBus): def __init__(self): DockyDBus.__init__(self, 'net.launchpad.DockManager', '/net/launchpad/DockManager', 'net.launchpad.DockManager', 'net.launchpad.DockItem'); ###### ###### ###### try: KDEDBus().update(); except BaseException as e: print "Couldn't connect to KDE Dockmanager - falling back to Docky. Reason: ", e #Fallback to Docky - someone's not using KDE :-( try: DockyDBus().update() except BaseException as e: print "Couldn't connect to docky - using fallback to v2.1.x. Reason: ", e #Fallback to 21 try: DockyDBus21().update() except BaseException as e: print "Couldn't connect to docky - using fallback to 2.0.x. Reason: ", e #Fallback to old docky DockyDBus20().update() ```

Hey vanoudt, thanks for your report. Would you be kind enough to prepare a pull request? You may also check this thread on stack overflow: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2035657/what-is-my-current-desktop-environment to do some improvements in checking the window manager. You can check here how to do it: http://help.github.com/send-pull-requests/ Thx

A pull request is in! I've incorporated a check for KDE... although I guess it's possible (though unlikely) to run docky in a KDE session.... Nicholas

Thanks for the pull request. I've merged it, I'll try to build a new version later.
