I'm really looking for this feature too right now. Perhaps I will see about hacking this in. For some field types (image), cutting and pasting isn't even an option.

Here is a workaround (a bit of a hack) for the time being:

jQuery(function ($) {
    $('.mf_group > .mf-field').sortable();
});

I put that JavaScript onto the admin page and I can sort my images with drag and drop. It also makes a bunch of other items sortable but that's okay with me because I need this feature immediately.

Perhaps this is not the "right" way to go about it, but it works great for me.

This should be added. I was also looking for this solution. Thanks for the code cmwelsh. You can specify the group id to only make it sortable for that specific group. Like this: jQuery('#mf_6 .mf-field').sortable();

That's just a temporary solution and should be more dynamic if this functionality gets implemented :)
