Oh wait,

i missed this line in the second working example until just now:

:: glibc is in IgnorePkg/IgnoreGroup. Install anyway? [Y/n]

So the problem is the IgnorePkgs setting in the pacman config of the container rootfs. I can understand that you maybeneed this package ignore, but you are breaking basestrap with this.

I mean, you could just unignore it by editing/commenting out that line in the pacman configuration.

Yeah, clearly i could do that and that would be a shortterm solution.

However, I by no means have enough knowledge of what additional effects this change would bring. I mean, this ignore entry wouldnt be here just "for fun". Aaaand because of this i raised this issue here, to open a discussion about this with people with enough knowledge :)

well. afaik that ignore is there for the simple reason, that upgrading glibc sometimes breaks stuff. so we want that to be an active decision. In a regular manjaro setup it isn't in IgnorePkg, but in the HoldPkg list, so it isn't uninstalled by accident.

after tinkering around a bit, i don't see why we had this in ignorepkg. removed that bit.
