In the online IDE, pasting into the terminal with CTRL+V / CMD+V doesn't work because there's a keybinding that intercepts the command and prevents the pasting action.
The keybindings.json
that's meant to be used to edit keybindings only gets created at runtime after the user initializes a keybinding change. Since we can't ask users to modify this keybinding manually every session, and MSFT doesn't want to support workspace level keybindings, we have to create a custom extension that does this, similar to this.
Here's how to deploy it to the machine, we don't publish it on the marketplace.
vsce package
scp ./scholar-custom-keybindings-0.0.1.vsix root@{DROPLET_IP}:/root/custom-extensions/scholar-custom-keybindings-0.0.1.vsix
On the machine, we just need to do:
mkdir -p custom-extensions
./openvscode-server-v1.75.1-linux-x64/bin/openvscode-server --install-extension custom-extensions/scholar-custom-keybindings-0.0.1.vsix
