I know Leaflet and I also experimented with it a little bit. It's a nice lightweight alternative, but personally I don't have any problems with Google Maps. I can make an alternative template and then we can see.

I think that Leaflet is a bit faster on loading Tiles. Like i said, it would be really nice to see this implementation too... :)

Sorry, but I was a bit busy the last time. I started to change the renderer to use configuration files and also worked a bit on different rendermodes. Therefore the template needed lot of reworking. I am sure that I can test leaflet in the next time.

I added an experimental Leaflet template. The whole coordinate-projection-thing needs to be adjusted, so this template has only basic functionalities, e.g. no markers, no url hash. You can try this template by just opening index.leaflet.html instead of index.html. Here is an example: leaflet / gmap.

Now I figured out how the coordinate system with Leaflet works. I added all features from the Google Map template to the Leaflet template.
