@marianunez can I pick this up?

@ezekielchow to be able to access the invite guests, you need to enable Guest feature which is an Enterprise feature. You can use this test license for your local dev environment to test your changes. Rename the extension to .mattermost-license
contributors-test-license.txt

You need to enable Guests access in the System Console under the Authentication section:

And then you are going to see the option to invite guests in the Invite modal like this:

I've done that but still unable to see the guest option. Actually it might be because of the weird way I activate the license. These are the steps I do:

  1. Upload the license file in /admin_console/about/license. It returns with error license invalid.
  2. Restart the server.
  3. Once restarted, will show enterprise license expire by etc.
  4. Click 'Upgrade to Enterprise Edition' in /admin_console/about/license
  5. After 100%, clicking restart server will return the whole server into free version

@ezekielchow are you building the server locally? This license will only be valid for running in dev mode.

Once you see your license loaded and see that it will expire by then you don't need to click Upgrade. You should be set and should be able to access System Console > Authentication > Guest Access

@marianunez I've tried & I found the responsible code. However, making changes is hard when I cannot test the changes I made right away. I'll be unassigning myself

Totally understandable. Thanks for your time and patience looking into this issue! Hopefully there may be other Up for Grabs that you can look for if you still want to contribute.

I will close this ticket as it requires to run enterprise and we can move this internally.
