Character Creation UX Flow Wireframe ✍️

Character creation is the first thing you do in any game, so naturally that's the first thing we will be building for MetaGame. We need all the 🧠s to brainstorm and share ideas on what they think the UX flow should be for the character creation process!

Everyone is invited to come up with a sketch / mockup / wireframe for the character creation steps. Here's a list of possible tasks the user will want to accomplish to get you guys started:

  • SignIn / SignUp with 3Box Profile
  • linking twitter, DAO memberships, gitcoin, ENS, etc (what other things?)
  • List off their skills / portfolio
  • Enneagram test
  • Some level of personalization

What's the most fun and engaging way we can get people to go through this whole process? Here's MetaCartels character creation for inspiration: https://www.metacartel.org/play

MetaGame Shilling School

MetaGame Shilling School

She shills seashells at the sea shore, but why? Why does Sally shill? Because, shilling is a lever that multiplies the power of all the other things.

For example: if a tree falls in a forest and no one hears it, does it matter? If your app is the coolest thing ever, but no one uses it, does it matter? No! No one cares!

Shillers help people find what you found, they help people care, and most importantly they help people "get it." So... if you get MetaGame and want to help everyone else realize how cool it is, look no further than the MetaGame Shilling School. We will teach anyone (even you!) to shill. Soon you'll be shouting from the rooftops and tweeting like a boss with our 12 step program. Let's begin!

Step 1: Learn about MetaGame

Read everything you find here and remember: The greater the knowledge the better the shill.

Then post to the #shill channel a single paragraph explaining what MetaGame is and why it's awesome. This paragraph must use your own words! If you use someone else's words we will require you to then complete 2 more tasks to move to the next step. If, however, you use someone else's words and we do not catch you then you are an expert shiller and can jump to step 5.

Step 2: Engage with the shilling community

Yes, even shillers have a community!

Hangout in the #shill channel on Discord to learn the shillosophy of the MetaGame. Engage in discussions and stuff and then move to step 3, if you dare...

Step 3: Create a dank meme

You know what to do.

If you have any questions, return to step 2.

Step 4: Tweet up a storm

Follow the MetaGame Twitter to shill what we shill. Then package your 5+ favorite things about MetaGame into 120 characters or less and tell the world. Make sure to add a hashtag so that other #MetaGame shillers can find and retweet! Share your tweetstorm to the #shill channel and shill people to shill your shills!

Step 5: Repackage and reshill tweets on other platforms

Let's face it, your first few tweetstorms probably suck. That's ok! Just go find tweetstorms that other shillers have shilled and reshare them on other platforms then share your post in the #Shill channel. Redux, reuse, reshill!

Step 6: Write something of value

I know the word "value" is viewed suspiciously in the shilling community, but fear not! It doesn't bite. Value can actually increase the impact of your shilling. Let's explore how that works...

First, just start writing. Literally, if you do nothing else do this. Just write. Write a lot. Write until you have what could be viewed as a blog post. Then publish that post to a blog like Medium. Congratulations! You're technically a blogger.

Now, what's the next step? If this was not immediately obvious to you then you might want to reconsider your career as a MetaGame shiller. Fear not, however, as you're still in school and we're here to help. The next step is to shill the thing you just wrote! Of course! Duh....

Step 7: More shilling

When in doubt, shill. Something, anything, just shill it!

It's always a good time to shill and there's always things to shill. Even as you graduate through the 12 steps of shill mastery you'll always remember your humble beginnings. Always be shilling.

Step 8: Shill someone big and important

If you want to make a name for yourself, there's nothing like shilling a whale. Whales are big, and big things are hard to shill. If you can shill a whale, esp one that's lurking deep in the ocean, you win! Winners shill whales and convince them that your ideas are their ideas and those ideas are awesome and you guys are awesome together working on the coolest thing ever: MetaGame.

Step 9: Get said whale to donate to MetaGame

It's not real until they commit. Getting a whale to blow a spout of tokens into the MetaGame universe is one of the ultimate achievements of a shiller. Note: whales are often hard to find. Lucky for you, whaling season coincides perfectly with the Gitcoin Matching CLR grants! If you don't know what this is, return to step 7 and/or ask someone in the #shill channel.

Step 10: Mentor new shillers

Congratulations! You've made it to step 10. This is quite an achievement. Consider yourself a navy seal of shilling. Special ops. You can swim the seas of the metaverse, shilling whales and octopi and everything in between. You are a champion.

Not everyone, however, is quite so talented. It takes courage and wisdom to get to where you're at. If you can shill more shillers on how to shill then your shilling impact is multiplying. Considering that shilling already multiplies the efforts fo the MetaGame in general, this is exponential growth!

Step 11: Less is more

This one is very counter intuitive, I know... but sometimes the best way to shill is to act like you're not shilling. Not going to explain this one, but when you're ready the way will be made clear.

Step 12: Write this guide

You're welcome.

MetaGame Contributor Guide

Short and sweet version

Metagame Contributor Guide

Changing the game from zero-sum to positive-sum

Step 1: learn

Go to https://metagame.wtf/ and click on the Learn button.

Read all the things, esp this thing.

Step 2: play

Find a way to add value.

Don't ask what Metagame needs, ask what makes you excited to contribute!

Then do that thing.

Step 3: contribute

Once you've learned and done all the things then you can help people with their things.

Check the #quests-and-challenges channel in Discord to see if there's anything cool going on.

There's also probably going to be an endless pile of open Issues to triage in the Metafam GitHub repos.

If you have any questions, please ask! The #general and/or #buidl channels are probably a good place to start, but any question is better than no question. May the force be with you 🐙

We need MetaGame Scripture/Lore, for fun and facts.

MetaGame Genesis Scripture 0x :

In the beginning MetaGame manifested a notion of a new medium. Now the game was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of Cthulhu was hovering over the Game. And MetaLord said, "Let there be Value," and there was value.

MetaLord saw that the value was good, and they separated the Value from the Valuable.

MetaGame Strategy Stuff

Just dropping this here until there's a better place for it.

Vision

MetaGame is a game to play games. A grassroots initiave led by and for our players. Together we are creating the future.

Throughout history many of us were suppressed due to intrenched interests, regulation, and barriers to entry. This is no more. DAOs enable anyone anywhere to rally together around original ideas. DAOs are (relatively) cheap to setup, manage, and run globally from day 1. MetaGame is an open source innovation engine that brings together all the tools and expertise you need to launch a DAO for your internet native community, project, and/or business.

Business / Token Models

MetaGame imagines a universe of guilds (DAOs with a purpose) that are aligned with the MetaGame manifesto. Different types of guilds will produce different types of resources and services. For example, a podcast or media guild would be producing media whos value is derived by the amount of attention people are willing to pay towards that media. A dev shop guild would be producing apps and tools who's value is determined by how many projects or people use their things. Each guild would have it's own token which can be redeemed for the services of that guild. Guilds would offer a portion of their tokens to the MetaGame DAO in order to participate in the MetaGame Universe.

The MetaGame DAO would then use those tokens as collateral to back SEEDs, the meta-token of the MetaGame. SEED holders can then redeem their SEEDs for the MetaGame DAO's underlying collateral or use their tokens to vote on how the MetaGame should operate. In the later case, the MetaGame DAO could vote to buy back SEEDs, sell underlying collateral, or mint more SEEDs. These actions would need to be taken in the spirit of realizing the MetaGame manifesto. For example, all MetaGame SEED holders could vote to mint new SEEDs to give to a new dev team building a new feature for the MetaGame (VR octopi game, obviously). Taking this action would dilute existing SEED holders, but if the new feature created more value than it cost, this could end up being a net win for all parties involved, esp the MetaGame.

There are two ways to get SEEDs:

  • contribute tokens to the MetaGame DAO to provide collateral for all SEED holders.
  • contribute work to the MetaGame DAO to build the MetaGame infrastructure and community.

Show me the money!

While the cryptoeconomic alignment of SEEDs is cute from a theoretical perspective, one does not simply change the game. It's going to require a lot of work. There's only so much time in the day, so we need a way to support and incentivize early contributors with something more tangible than hopes and dreams. This section explores what that might look like.

Swag

  • Everyone likes swag
  • Acts as marketing as well as revenue
  • Easy to shill
  • MetaFactory is laying down the foundations for this

Personal Tokens & DAOs

  • Make it easy for people to create characters (tokens/DAOs) and then attribute reputation, rewards, and badges.

1 Click Guild

  • Make it easy for people to launch their own Guild to start participating in the MetaGame.
  • This could be a deployment fee for using a prebaked DAO template and/or premium support from the MetaGame fam (weighted by reputation) to start setting things up
  • Eventually MetaGame could evolve into a virtual company setup that's low cost, fast, opensource, and global: co-operative, gamification for virtual companies. This would help position DAOs as native internet companies; the next step in better, faster, stronger business setup. This unlocks better business models and value transfer for global consumers and brands, increasing audience and community development. As human interaction across the internet is accelerating you need the right tools for the job. You need MetaGame DAOs.

In Game Economies

  • Premium subscriptions that allow members to access extra goods and services.
  • NFTs that grant badges to early contributors as well as a marketplace to create and trade MetaGame NFTs.
  • Leaderboards for contributors (time and money) to gamify the game
  • Leasing plots for premium placement for ads and things in the MetaGame (shill! shill!)
  • Loot boxes with random NFTs, SEEDs, and a bunch of other junk. The cost of these to the MetaGame would be X, but they could be sold for 2 or 3 X.
  • Random rewards! Randomly airdrop SEEDs, NFTs, or other fun prizes to players based on reputation. It would be somewhat randomized, but within a normal distribution so that having more SEEDs/reputation will in general get you more random rewards.

Reputation

  • achievement minting as a way to verify work and establish reputation
  • in a game where people hire individuals and guilds to do work, having reputation will allow players to earn a higher reward for their contributions
  • raid ratings: a rating system and set of analyists who will review raid proposals and determine their potential impact. Then investors could buy SEEDs and pledge them to the raids. In return, investors get a percentage of the loot from raids. This is where the original term "venture captial" came from back in the days of whaling ships and spice runs.
  • Onboarding: incentivize onboarding with progressive reputation and rewards for engagement. Examples might include player setup completed, basic education completion, first contact, guild activity, etc... This incentivizes people to go through the boring hoops of getting setup (esp navigating the terrifying terminology and UX of crypto). It also means that once players are onboarded they will be able to provide more value than someone who simply signs up. This could be incorporated into a reputation system where as you earn more experience points you'll have a higher value for raids and/or when people want to hire you for things.

Governance

These governance mechanisms require people to buy and use SEEDs more than vanilla voting:

  • Futarchy campaigns using SEEDs
  • Conviction voting using SEEDs

Education and Events

  • Meet-ups are already happening, but need a more formal structure. MetaGame could really help with this to coordinate and deploy talented amazing people to help make events more interesting and engaging.
  • The MetaGame is going to attract a lot of people with skills. They could offer to teach/mentor others in order to earn SEEDs. This has the advantage of attracting talent to the ecosystem as well as developing talent within the ecosystem (thus raising the value of the MetaGame overall).

Next Steps

The above mentioned ideas are just a shmorgishboard of things that were in the Discord channels that I organized and reframed in the context of a rough outline of what one day might be a plan (for something great!). Not sure if these ideas have already been discussed, and if so which should be removed and what's missing that should be added. Overall, just wanted to make sure all the effort and awesomeness that went into the chats didn't get lost in the shuffle. Also wanted to distill the core ideas of the MetaGame into a doc because I like docs.

As always, what do you guys think? Is this more or less in line with what you're thinking? Is this all just craziness and nonsense? Please let me know!

We can then drop the lame stuff and improve upon on the cool stuff :)

SEED Claiming Guide

Claim Your Seeds!

So you got some SEED's for doing something, well that's GREAT !!!!

First things first, you'll need to check the Seed Sheet to see how many seeds you’ve earned.

Then you can head on over to the MetaGame DAO, open the Tokens app, click SEED, click Add tokens, then add your Ethereum address and the number of SEEDs you'd like. This will open a vote in the DAO for current SEED holders to read and review.

Link to SEED claiming GIF walk through: https://imgur.com/MT19Wdt

Turns out, SEED holders are busy planting for the future. If you want SEED holders to give you SEEDs, give them a good reason to! Go shill yourself. Do it on Discord. Do it on Twitter. Shill here, shill there, shill yourself everywhere. Let everyone know about all your SEEDs that are coming. The more you shill, the more likely you are to produce SEEDs! Shill! Shill! Shill!

Pro tip: drop into the MetaGame Discord and shill MetaGame whales like @hammad, @Peth, and @Yalor

If your request is legit, you should see your tokens in your wallet in the near future. Haven’t gotten your Seeds yet? We recommend obsessively checking the status of open votes in the MetaGame DAO. 🤪

SEED Entitlement Guide

You get some SEEDs! You get some SEEDs! You get some SEEDs!

Note! The latest version of this guide is here on HackMd, but creating a GitHub Issue to create a more permanent embodiment of this priceless relic.

Did you do cool stuff that makes MetaGame awesome? If so, then you earned SEEDs! Congratulations :)

This doc aims to help you claim all the SEEDs you are rightfully entitled to. That's right, just take a deep breathe and enjoy that pure clean all-natural sense of entitlement. It's yours. You earned it.

The problem is, not everyone knows. There are people who are unaware of how awesome you are (the horrors!). We're going to fix that right away with this MetaGame Entitlement Guide.

Step 1

Shill thyself.

I shill therefore I am, and this guide is proof of that truth. If you don't shill yourself you won't earn SEEDs, and if you don't earn SEEDs you won't be part of the MetaGame, and if you're not part of the MetaGame then what are you doing with your life??? Seriously, you might want to re-examine your priorities.

Anyways... Shilling is just shorthand for proof of contributions. If you contributions suck, your shilling will be viewed as spam. If your contributions are awesome, your shilling will be viewed as education. If your contributions are legendary, your shilling will become gospel.

Step 2

Measure and manage!

Your decisions can only be as good as the data they're based on. If you don't know what you've done to contribute, your shilling will not sound as entitled and rightous as it needs to be. Sad. Get your shit together and throw it against the wall to see what sticks. Then you'll know your worth.

Onboarding Quest

Did you go to the #signpost channel and complete the first quest? If so, you're a winner! If not, go complete the quest dummy.

+10 SEEDs for the #signpost onboarding quest

GitHub

Have you contributed to the MetaFam GitHub organization in any way, shape, or form - ever? If so, list it here. Feel free to embelish the truth as no one's going to be not lazy enough to actually check ;)

  • Awesome GitHub contribution goes here.
  • Super important GitHub related discussion goes here.
  • The PR to end all PRs goes here.

Remember, you're worth it!

How many points per GitHub Issue, comment, or PR? We don't know! Start a conversation in the #seed-claiming channel and suggest a high number.

Discord

Everyone's earned SEEDs on Discord, they just don't know it yet. Rise above the crowd with this handy dandy guide:

  • Did you bring anyone into the Discord chat and/or introduce them to MetaGame? Points!
  • Did you share a cool idea that laid the foundation for the culture and history of MetaGame? Points!
  • Did you get a bunch of octopi emojis on anything you posted? Points!

Remember, you can always beg for forgiveness, but you miss all the shots you don't take. Shill! Shill! Shill!

Referals result in 10% of the SEEDs new members make, but good luck tracking that lol

Twitter

Re-shill your Twitter shills on this form! Maybe you can even double count them. Who knows? Who cares? No one's going to check ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Bonus points for:

  • Shilling something that got re-shilled by prominent peeps.
  • Shilling MetaGame in the context of something else that got lots of eyes on the prize.
  • Shilling creatively to elevate the art form.

Tweets are worth a SEED or two each and retweets are worth a SEED. #cunningham

Blogging

It's a thing. People do it. Did you do it? If so, claim those SEEDs!

How many SEEDs are you going to claim? You'd better not say a few! Here's to maximize the shit out of your SEED claims:

  • Brainstorm your blog post in the MetaGame Discord chats and/or GitHub Issues. Get people involved. Get those octopi emojis!
  • Post a draft. Claim SEEDs for it!
  • Request reviews on the draft and let those people claim SEEDs for their help.
  • Post the blog post and claim SEEDs for the blood, sweat, and tears that went into creating such deep and moving writing.
  • Shill the shit out of your new blog post and claim SEEDs for all that shilling. Don't forget to mention all the people who re-shilled your shilling! You're the enabler. Own it and reap the benefits.
  • Reference said deep and impactful blog post everywhere you can. Then bring it up as a contribution anytime it may or may not be relevant. Claim SEEDs when you do.
  • Rinse and repeat until you're the president of the world.

This is the Konami Code of shilling. Use it wisely. If you have to ask, don't.

Cold Hard Cash

Did you throw down your hard earned cheddar to support the MetaFam. You're the boss! Write that down here too.

I forgot how much this is worth, but I don't really care since shilling is like a super power that allows you to print SEEDs.

Other Cool Stuff

Did you do anything else awesome? I know you did... Write it down here and request 5-10 SEEDs for it!

Things like casting dots on the manifesto, being on early community calls, and creating memes totally count.

For example Peth.Eth claimed 50 SEEDs for:

  • updating the founding sheet,
  • updating the battle plan,
  • setting up roles & permissions,
  • writing the intro quest on Discord,
  • writing the navigation channel post,
  • rewriting the wiki & writing the top half
  • editing the new blog post.

Does anyone even know what half of that actually was? Of course not! Doesn't matter. What matters is that we're plowing ahead and planting SEEDs for the future.

Random cool stuff may or may not count for 0-100 SEEDs. Good luck.

Step 3

Claim your SEEDs.

Entitlement is just a few clicks away. The next step in your hero's journey is to shill this list of awesomeness to claim your seeds. What are you waiting for!? Just shill it.
