TSAL

A light that indicates presence of dangerous voltage within the Tractive System

The third iteration of the TSAL driver.

Precharge

A device to precharge the Tractive System. This prototype features voltage feedback to protect AIRs. In open-loop systems, if a wiring fault develops - eg. precharge resistor is disconnected - then the precharge is ineffective and AIRs may become damaged.

Latches momentary faults that are required to shutdown the EV.

Suspected Typo in Precharge - How to modify this design

You reference the need to change the 'Precharge Resistor R49.'

I don't believe you were referencing R49 but instead R46. I don't see a need to modify R49.

Instead R46 is the HS25 series resistor like you reference.

Documentation for our team

Hello,
Our TSAL design uses your schematic and just have replaced the MOSFETs in the circuit. I am documenting all our circuits and am wondering if you are okay with me posting our tsal pcb and linking to your channel and github. Your video was very informative and taught me a lot about electronics. The readme and schematic will note that it is your design if you are okay with this!

Pre-charger / Dis-charger

Hi, Michael, I'm a student at a university in Sweden where I got the task to make the pre-charger

TSAL R12

Hi Michael,

Thanks for these great designs! My team was reviewing the TSAl v3 design and was wondering about the purpose of R12? Any guidance would be appreciated.

Comparator getting too hot

Our schematic for our TSAL for our FSAE team is attached to this, our issue is that the comparator gets too hot when testing the board, the green LED turns on at first then stops when the comparator gets hot, and the red LED doesn't turn on or flash at all. None of us can figure out what the issue with this is

Adjust TSAL threshold

Hello Michael, I am planning to ude an adapted version of your TSAL, but I want to adjust the voltage threshold from 60V to 40V. Any idea of how can I do this?

I hope you are doing well. I am an FSAE student in Canada, and our team is currently in need of a TSAL board. Unfortunately, the member responsible for the design of the TSAL is no longer with us and left little documentation for us to pick up from. I came across your TSAL walkthrough video, and I would like to ask we could implement your TSAL V3 design for our vehicle with due credits, of course. I would appreciate your response.

Pre charge & discharge

Hi, Michael, I'm a student at a university in Ain-shams (Egyptian University).
So, I got the task to make a pre-charge circuit.
I only have an issue with the resistance value this my calculations. Can u have a look at them?
my system is 100V and with 4 Motor controllers each (4000uf)
