This issue was fixed in Release 1.22.6 (version 188) by adding a calibration tool:

  • default min value is 1 - I couldn't find a way to get this value programatically without user interaction
  • default max value is retrieved using reflection (or 255 if not successful)
  • a popup to calibrate min/max value by manually changing the brightness from notification bar to lowest value, then to highest value. or enter the min/max manually
