If you want to see rows count for some field, you can do following steps
Choose Card visual from visualization pane ("1 2 3" picture) and right click on field, then select Count or Count(distinct) aggregation method

you can form specific objects array like in Gantt visual https://github.com/microsoft/powerbi-visuals-gantt/blob/master/src/columns.ts#L45-L86
https://github.com/microsoft/powerbi-visuals-gantt/blob/master/src/gantt.ts#L853
and then you can use values.ColumnName array for each column values
