Yeah I get the same results. I had to rerun the cell more than once for it to work. I believe this is the problem/feature:

Not sure if we want to auto trust a notebook or not. Probably not. It's better to force you to mark it that way I think.

Hi Jim, it appears that when I export, my plotly charts do not render in the browser. Is that expected?
It would be even better if I could simply save the output of a single cell (a plotly graph, for example) and then re-open it in VSCode later.

@amittleider this is not expected. Do you have an example notebook you can share? If you rerun the cell does it work?
Your other comment would make a good suggestion. Can you enter a new issue? Thanks.

@rchiodo Yes, here is a sample notebook:
#%%
import plotly
plotly.offline.init_notebook_mode()
import plotly.offline as plotly
import plotly.graph_objs as go
import numpy as np
x = np.random.randn(500)
data = [go.Histogram(x=x)]
plotly.iplot(data, filename='basic histogram')
And here is a gif showing the results:
I tried your suggestion to re-run the cell, but it still doesn't render.

@ronglums what do you think? Should we auto trust exported notebooks so that javascript will run inside of them on first open?
from vscode-jupyter.
@rchiodo Thanks! I didn't realize there was a trusted/untrusted feature of jupyter notebooks. You're right, I simply click the "Not trusted" button to toggle it on, and the javascript renders.
