Agree, but before we go into specifics of the implementation we need to consider these requirements:

  1. Close to linear scale with the ability to support thousands of CCUs and millions of players in the database.
  2. Start small and scale up and down in order to support Indie Developers with limited budget.

The concurrency level is something that we might need to consider on a broader scope outside of DocumentDB depending on if we can architect, implement and validate that DocumentDB can handle these kind of ingest requirements or not.

I've got an initial PR (#82) that shows targeting .NET and .NET Core, and has a DocumentDB implementation as an example. While coding it there were a few things that came to mind for future verification, so I thought I should capture them :-)

I think this issue is no longer relevant, since we are exploring other options for leaderboard right now using SQL and/or Redis. I'll close this issue
