App registration does not match guide about msgraph-sample-pythondjangoapp

It looks like you're not registering it in the App Registration Portal at https://apps.dev.microsoft.com per the instructions at https://github.com/microsoftgraph/msgraph-training-pythondjangoapp/blob/master/Lab.md#exercise-2-register-a-web-application-with-the-application-registration-portal. That UI you're showing looks more like the Azure portal, which is not where you should be registering this app.

It was a bit of both. I am at https://apps.dev.microsoft.com/ but have two "Add an app" buttons. It looks like a UI error, but one was for azure and the other for 'converged applications'

Ah yeah, that will make a difference. I tried to call that out with a note in the walkthrough. The Azure team is working on the app registration experience so hopefully it will be a little smoother in the future.
