Hi @ Github I am a complete novice, possibly in the wrong forum but I desperately want to get Milkdrop 3 working. If I am in the wrong forum please point me in the right direction. Where I am at. I have Winamp 5.9.2 with Milkdrop2 on Win 11which works brilliantly with Winamp. For example when I put an Audio CD in my desktop Winamp Loads and visualisations change within a track and when a new track starts. I downloaded from Github Milkdrop 3 and installed DirectX 9 even though DirectX12 is alraedy on board. After extraction and clicking on Milkdrop3.exe Visualisations immediately start without any CD being inserted. If I insert a CD it opens Milkdrop 2 which is not what I want. What do I have to do to just use the new Standalone Milkdrop 3 and how do I make the standalone open a Music CD and work with the music being played, that is like Milkdrop2 where visualisations change within a track and when a new track starts? Thank you Terry

You can do this, but it requires a few scripts on your side to automatically launch MilkDrop3 with Winamp or your Audio CD. Ask ChatGPT for help setting this up. The easiest solution would be to uninstall MilkDrop2, create a desktop shortcut for MilkDrop3, and simply launch it manually whenever you want to use it.

Hi @ Milkdrop 2077 Thanks for your very detailed post I really appreciate it. Since I last posted I have moved on a lot. What I was trying to achieve was to leave Winamp 5.9.2 and Milkdrop2 in its current state without uninstalling it or otherwise changing the way it worked, because simply it works flawlessly. That said times have moved on. I didn't understand how Milkdrop 3 worked and wanted time and space to understand it. I have since installed Music Bee and have managed to get it to work with Milkdrop 3 but that in turn caused problems by starting Winamp which I didn't want. To cut a long story short I reinstalled MusicBee which this time re-registered itself with Autoplay and now shows Winamp AND MusicBee as an option. I have also re-registerd MusicBees as the Default App by changing all the file types for Music etc to Music Bee. I have currently set Mildrop3 to open Music Bee and in addition set Autoplay to open Music Cd's when a CD is inserted. It does this splendidly and goes immediately to Full Screen . It does not open Winamp or mess up its settings. I now have a music system based on MusicBee that uses the latest version of MilkDrop3 and is allowing me to get to "know it". The best part though is that all I have to do to use WinAMP and Milkdrop2 is to change Autoplay to Play Winamp. It does this without fail and it doesn't mess up any settings for MusicBee and Milkdrop. At some future date when I know Milkdrop3 I can dispense with WinAmp. It's all a brilliant user experience thanks to the help from this forum and of course my willingness to stick at it. So a big thanks to everyone.

Hi @ Milkdrop I've noticed over a number of uses that the same visualisations appear whatever music CD is playing. Given that there are a lot of Presets/Visualisations how do I get visualisations to change either randomly or in a logical format . I want all that is available to be used? Thanks

Chech this video out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OQdZFlOHe5o&t=100s press 'R' to switch to random / sequential mode. Also, there is an option in the MilkPanel.exe > Options > Presets > Do not show the same preset twice!
