This sounds like a pretty severe bug with the memcache store
Can Daali be given some sort of timeout?

If I'm not mistaken, there's a the default socket timeout in Dalli is 0.5s. If the connection fails, an error should be raised and the profiler should be able to log the error, and either recover from it via a fallback to the default store or disable itself, no?
What do you think is the best course of action to take when the connection to Memcache is lost? I'd be happy to provide a pull-request.

The same problem occurs if you set a user_provider, which doesn't provide a valid filename, and use FileStore
