Fixed by using:

entities:
  max_elevation: sensor.max_elevation
  noon: sensor.solar_noon
  sunrise: sensor.sunrise
  sunset: sensor.sunset
  time: sensor.time_utc
  elevation: sensor.solar_elevation
meridiem: false
name: Sun
type: 'custom:sun-card'

Also I see now there is no predicted time to sunrise available.

Hmm. Nope. The sunrise and sunset disappearance after midnight using that config.

This is an artefact created by me viewing the home assistant front end from a timezone 6 hours behind where my home assistant server is located. Logging into my home PC it displays correctly.

Hey, sorry for delayed response.
Config using sensor.time_utc is correct. Viewing the card from different places should not make any difference, because everything relies on timezone configured in HA.
Could you post here: HA timezone, states of sun2 sensors (sunrise, sunset), current time in utc and screenshot of the card when this issue appears, please?

No need, everything appears to be ok. Thanks.
