Why does the score calculated with igc-xc-score not match the xcontest score result? about igc-xc-score

The very goal of igc-xc-score is to give you a 100% accurate and deterministic result. As the rules state that the highest possible valid score should be used, as long as the score given by igc-xc-score is valid according to the rules, it must be correct one because it is higher.

There are two mains reasons why igc-xc-score may give you a higher score:

• First, igc-xc-score uses every single GPS point of the flight track, while most other scoring programs eliminate points in order to simplify the search
• Second, igc-xc-score tries to do an exhaustive search of the entire solution space in a given amount of time - which works for most flights
