Unable to understand the abs_age for the death data set about covid19-public

Hi! There are 3 types of variables:

• abs: refers to the absolute number of deaths in that age group
• perc: refers to deaths in that age group as a % of all deaths
• capits: refers to deaths per 100k people in that age group

The data is divided into weeks, and available at national + state level.

Hi Thank you so much for the reply, Just to clarify, the absolute numbers are for only COVID deaths? and other causes of death are not included here. ie: [image: image.png] Based on the above snap shot ( data set death_age.csv) the sum of abs_0_4 + sum abs_5_11+.... abs_80_+ for week 24 = 104 However from the heat map screened above, we observe the sum of deaths for "last week" was only 14 which is the same as the sum of new deaths in the data set called deaths_malaysia.csv in the last week. (19-26 June 2022) We would really appreciate some guidance in understanding the difference in the sum of death from these 2 data sheets. Thank you again in advance
