The influence of corona on the propagation of transient voltages on transmission lines can be studied by modeling the impulse corona discharge, taking into account its physical properties. The technique of corona characteristics (charge-voltage) is more favorable than the propagation delay characteristic which is known to be less accurate and leads to results that are far from reality. In this paper, a mathematical model of corona discharge is integrated into the Alternative Transients Program of the ElectroMagnetic Transients Program software (ATP/EMTP), using the MODELS interface. The attenuation and distortion phenomena on the overhead transmission line caused by corona is modeled and simulated by the implementation of a corona model with the user-defined multi-branch type-94 circuit in ATP. Comparison between the computed results and literature experimental investigations gives a good agreement between them.

Introduction: The COVID-19 is an emerging global pandemic which has been developed from a new type of coronavirus in the form of a viral infection with high transmissibility and spread. The disease has so far infected millions and killed thousands. Since the outbreak of the disease, many researchers have become interested in modeling and estimating the probable number of infected people with COVID-19 or estimating the mortality rate from this pandemic in a specific period of time and in different countries. These models make it possible to better understand the behavior of this pandemic and predict its trend. This study aimed to model the mortality rate due to the COVID-19 pandemic in five consecutive months in Iran. Materials and Methods: The Autoregressive (AR) model and the Autoregressive Moving Average (ARMA) model were analyzed to test the ability of these models to estimate the mortality rate of COVID-19 disease from March to July. The performance of these models was evaluated with three criteria: mean square error, cost function, and final prediction error. The models were evaluated on the number of deaths confirmed by the Iran Ministry of Health and Medical Education. Results: The results of the analysis showed that the AR model with a rank of ten was successfully able to predict the mortality rate of COVID-19. Conclusion: The proposed model can predict the death rate of the COVID-19 pandemic. Estimating the mortality rate of the COVID-19 pandemic helps to better understand the behavior of this disease and predict its trends, which affect the type and timing of actions to control it. This paper describes a particle-size distribution (PSD) curve fitting software for analyzing the soil PSD and soil physical properties. A better characterization of soil texture can be obtained by describing the soil PSD using mathematical models. The mathematical equations of soil PSD are mainly used as a basis to estimate the soil hydraulic properties. Until now, many attempts are made to represent PSD curves using mathematical models, but selecting the best PSD model requires fitting all models to the PSD data, which would be difficult and time-consuming. So far, no specific program has been developed to fit the PSD models to the experimental data. A practical user-friendly software called “PSD Curve Fitting Software” was developed and introduced to program a simultaneous fitting of all models to soil PSD data of all samples. Some of the capabilities of this software are calculating evaluation statistics for all models and soils and their statistical properties such as average, standard deviation, minimum and maximum for all models, the amount of models’ fitting parameters and their statistical properties for all soil samples, soil water retention curve by Arya and Paris (1981) and Meskini-Vishkaee et al.

Research and development towards high efficiency plastic solar cells have been accelerating in recent years. Polymer-based bulk heterojunction solar cells are offering an attractive and inexpensive concept for large scale production by solution processing as well as advantageous flexible and aesthetic form factors. The thin film nano-morphology of bulk-heterojunction solar cells has been shown to dramatically influence the photovoltaic performance of the devices. This article reviews the different methods used to control the film nano-morphology of bulk-heterojunction solar cells focussing on the chemical additives during solution processing. All power conversion efficiency limiting mechanisms of bulk-heterojunction solar cells are discussed in detail. It is shown, how the formation of optimal percolation pathways between donor and acceptor influences the photovoltaic device performance. It is explained how the film nano-morphology relates to light absorption, free charge carrier generation as well as charge transport to the electrodes.

We report the new system for manipulation of nanoobjects based on composite Ti2NiCu/Pt nanotweezers with shape memory effect. The design consists of the bimetallic Ti2NiCu/Pt shape memory nanotweezers placed on a tip of electrochemically etched tungsten needle. The semiconductor diode placed on the tip of the needle plays both role of resistive element of the heater and temperature sensor for feedback control loop closing. The device is compatible with existing positioning systems like OmniProbe®, Kleindiek®, etc. and may find numerous practical applications in various tasks of nanotechnology connected with 3D manipulation.
