Yes , I saw that, but I would like to have the built-in filtering in the header, and there wont be any filtering/sorting if I add a custom column.
How can I add that functionality to a custom column header?

Alright. Then the only other alternative I could see would be a computed field.

A custom filter that you then use in the display-format with the gridItem as a parameter might work, but sorting on objects won't.

myApp.filter("customFormatter", function() {
return function(item) {
return item.name + ' ('+ item.serialNumber +')';
};
});
with display-format="customFormatter"
Sorting is not that important, because it will be implemented on the server.
