This is rather curious because it's impossible to update position (in right way) the way creators of Parsec implemented it (char by char). If \n results in new line as well as \r (as it should according to description), \r\n will result in two new lines. Given that \r\n is new line character (sequence) on windows this is noticeable bug. I wonder should we change description or how it's handled... should \r increment position at all? This all is separate problem, though.

After additional checks I conclude that although my initial thought about non-regular tab sections is not correct (it jumps to 9, 17, etc column), current behavior is still quite strange because 9th column is hardly "nearest 8th column".

After some research it seems that most tools start numbering of columns from 1, so we should too. Closed.
