I get the same errors on your most recent release hash: 0920cac (0.4.0) So I figure it's probably either my toolchain or dtc version?

latest from https://git.kernel.org/pub/scm/utils/dtc/dtc.git is the same version: 1.4.7. I am building on debian testing essentially (pureos).

Nevermind. I missed the error at the end for all the Warning messages.
apt-get install libfdt-dev
and then build works:
make[1]: Leaving directory '/home/craig/src/postmarketos/lk2nd'
$ find -name '*.img'
./build-msm8916-secondary/dt.img
./build-msm8916-secondary/lk2nd.img
from lk2nd.
