There's no need to rename anything.
If it uses the same hw code it should just work, otherwise please provide the hw code that is displayed by the utility.

I'm unable to get into bootrom mode. Any HW hacks to boot into bootrom? I've tried all key combinations

There are different methods to crash the preloader you can try using --crash_method.
However if the default doesn't work, it's unlikely the others will.

You can short the EMMC to force the device to boot into bootrom.

Oh well damn you HP I'm gonna try shorting those 4 pins and caps just trial and error. You can close this issue as it's not related to this repo now. Thanks Joel.
