👋 Hi, I'm Mikel Sagardia!

I'm a data scientist and engineer with a passion for all things related to machine learning and AI. I have a PhD in the intersection between robotics, virtual simulations and human-machine interfaces. However, since 2017 my interests have progressively shifted to applications that combine computer vision and natural language processing.

When our second kid was born in 2020, we moved back to San Sebastian after 14 years in Munich. There, I work remotely for Deutsche Telekom. Previously, I've been at the German Aerospace Center (DLR), MVTec and Vicomtech.

If you'd like to learn more about me or get in touch, follow these links:

See you around!

Mikel Sagardia's Projects

3d_modeling_tools icon 3d_modeling_tools

This repository contains a collection of guides and tools for 3D modeling: Meshlab, FreeCAD, Blender, Prusa 3D Printers, etc.

advanced_ml_techniques icon advanced_ml_techniques

This repository collects material, guides and links related to intermediate-advanced techniques used in professional machine learning.

asl_alphabet_image_classification icon asl_alphabet_image_classification

This small project contains approaches to classify letter/alphabet images that contain gestures of the American Sign Language (ASL). Deep Learning models are used with Keras, including (1) CNNs defined from scratch, (2) transfer learning with models pre-trained on ImageNet and (3) autoencoders in combination with random forests.

aws_guide icon aws_guide

My personal notes on AWS, compiled after following courses & tutorials and making personal experiences.

azure-search-openai-demo icon azure-search-openai-demo

A sample app for the Retrieval-Augmented Generation pattern running in Azure, using Azure AI Search for retrieval and Azure OpenAI large language models to power ChatGPT-style and Q&A experiences.

azure_guide icon azure_guide

This repository contains my personal guide on different services provided by Microsoft Azure. These notes were collected after following several courses and tutorials, among others.

bitcoin_notes icon bitcoin_notes

This repository contains my personal notes done while studying Bitcoin and related technologies.

census_model_deployment_fastapi icon census_model_deployment_fastapi

Model definition, training and deployment using FastAPI. The dataset consists in census entries of 32,561 people (age, education, etc.) and the model infers the salary range of an entry. The focus lies on the MLOps techniques and the repository aims to be a template for similar projects.

chatbot_evaluation icon chatbot_evaluation

This repository contains a simple chatbot evaluation package which can be used to score chatbots using a dataset of predefined and rated chat sessions.

churn_model_monitoring icon churn_model_monitoring

A dynamic risk assessment system in which a customer churn model is monitored after deployment.

cicd_guide icon cicd_guide

Notes on Continuous Integration and Continuous Deployment (CI/CD) using Gitlab Pipelines and Github Actions.

course_compilation icon course_compilation

This is the compilation of most of the courses I have done. I collect certificates, links to repositories, guides, projects, etc.

coursera-cs400 icon coursera-cs400

Source Code and Starter Code for Accelerated Computer Science Fundamentals Specialization on Coursera

crypto_analysis icon crypto_analysis

Analysis of price and network data related to Bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies. Just for fun, not for investments.

customer_churn_production icon customer_churn_production

A boilerplate to transform research notebooks into production-level code which uses the a Kaggle dataset on customer churn.

cvnd_exercises icon cvnd_exercises

Exercise notebooks for CVND, the Udacity Computer Vision Nanodegree.

data_structures_algorithms_udemy icon data_structures_algorithms_udemy

This repository contains a compilation of algorithm & data structure implementations in python. Originally, I forked the base repository from J.M. Portilla, who has a Udemy course on the topic: "Python for Algorithms, Data-Structures, and Interviews". However, I also added extra material from other sources.

datacamp_notes icon datacamp_notes

These are my personal notes of several data science and engineering courses from Datacamp.
