Tutorials on GNOME's developer documentation for some reason use Gio.Settings.bind() function, which can lead to lags because of blocking disk I/O activity. This is how it was addressed in Gradience: GradienceTeam/Gradience#446.

As a note, Resonance doesn't support fullscreen mode, so window-fullscreen key from that PR won't be needed, and window-height and window-width keys can be connected into one key accepting values in array ("ai" type in gschema syntax).

I'm not sure if remembering window size on close is something I can easily do with gtk, but I could add a setting to change the default window size. Would that address your issue?

Maybe this will help you (pretty much the same thing, but the 2nd one is more beginner friendly):

I could add a setting to change the default window size

In a perfect world, it would be like in the Black Box application. There would be a toggle in the parameters to choose if you want to keep the size or not. But if this is not possible, a setting to change the default window size is possible.
