Publishing to wildcard subject is not allowed in NATS, only subscribing to them is valid.

In ruby_nats, subscribing to "a.b.c.d" will trigger a function when another process publishes "a.b.." (or any wildcard variation of a.b.c.d). It does not appear to behave the same way in node_nats.

nats.subscribe("A.B.C.D", function(msg,reply,subject) {}

then

nats-pub A.B.C.D 'message'
node.js responds

nats-pub A.B.. 'message'
node.js has no response

The inverse behavior, e.g. subscribe "A...*", respond to "A.B.C.D", triggers as expected.

Understood and accepted. As it turns out, the desired behavior is implemented using wildcard subscriptions with application-level filtering and works appropriately, and arguably better than would wildcard publishing. Thank you for the swift response and thank you for this great utility.
