Would adding health check for editorconfig be an option at all? It could print what settings were set and what .editorconfig file from.

Please read :h editorconfig. You can disable Neovim's EditorConfig integration by setting the g:editorconfig global variable.

Can't reproduce, so this must be some system-wide default.

(That certainly is not standard Neovim behavior.)

Are you working in a project that has an .editorconfig file with trim_trailing_whitespace enabled, perhaps?

no this is on an empty directory

gpanders avatar gpanders commented on June 26, 2024

Then you likely have an .editorconfig in a parent directory.

vito-c avatar vito-c commented on June 26, 2024

Ah yah there was one in the parent dir. Thank you

It would be nice to have a config to completely disable editorconfigs.
It would also be nice to have a global eidtorconfig.
The problem is when you pull down a repo and there is a hidden editorconfig it can cause unexpected behavior.
