This is probably better to not use parent/child and instead use Inventory Items instead.

https://netbox.readthedocs.io/en/stable/core-functionality/device-types/#device-types_1

This parent/child relationship is not suitable for modeling chassis-based devices, wherein child members share a common control plane. Instead, line cards and similarly non-autonomous hardware should be modeled as inventory items within a device, with any associated interfaces or other components assigned directly to the device.

For modeling the Dell PowerEdge M1000e chassis I added the M1000e as a parent device. For the childs, first I created the device types as parents, then I created the devices (adding the bays slots to the device not the device type) and then after creating all the devices I changed the device type to be a child and it let me add my blades to the M1000e but it let me use the bays. I currently testing if everything is working properly.

How did you guys configure the passthrough ports to associate a port on the chassis to an interface on a blade?
