Then:

• you define the checkFunction
• in your case the solution will be something like

cy.waitUntil(() => {
  if (Cypress.$("#elementToBeChecked").length) {
    return true
  } else {
    return cy.flipPage().then(() => false)
  }
})
cy.get("#elementToBeChecked").click()

(where the checkFunction is everything passed to cy.waitUntil)
