Greg,

I'm a bit unsure how this would work - unless I'm misinterpreting, this would require that the "target" electorate is specified in advance. E.g. you'd need to know which electorate the meshblocks will be added to so that the total pop/quota % can be determined. Yet the "redistrict selected" tool currently works by first selecting the meshblocks, and THEN selecting the target electorate. So we'd need to flip this tool to allow selection of a target electorate in advance, correct?

Ahh sorry I think I misunderstood this one, I thought it was the labels on the meshblocks.
The label on the whole selection would be useful - but this could also apply, i.e. once you've made a selection, what is the amount of difference that selection will make as a percentage of the QUOTA, rather than as a percentage of the ELECTORATE. I don't know if this would work? Given the quotas are known this should be easier?

What I was thinking of was, the labels would show the percentage of the QUOTA that they account for. Not the percentage of the actual electorate population.

Gotcha - so it's a static value, regardless of what the meshblock has been assigned to. That makes sense.

It does make me wonder about a possible feature though. If we had a way to set a "target" electorate in advance, then we could add a map theme for "apriori" total population/quota - i.e. the total population/quota % of the current "target electorate" IF that meshblock was assigned to the target electorate (but without requiring that you actually DO assign it to that electorate). It might be handy for identifying in advance candidates for reassignment. We could also make this "apriori" theme show the change if a meshblock which IS currently assigned to the target electorate was unassigned. Does this sound useful?

Not sure where the "question" is here but I think we've settled on wanting to know population/percentage of all the selected meshblocks somewhere so we know how much population we're selecting.
