Font size and color styles not applying about pen-paper-coffee-syntax

first of all, what atom version are you using and could you check what the themes version is, just to be sure?
One thing that could be the issue is, if the document itself is not marked as a markdown file. check what syntax is enabled in the bottom right of the window. It should be GitHub Markdown.

No, it should work fine with the default Light UI theme.

That's what it turned out to be. I typically don't save a file before starting a draft, so there was no file name or extension applied to it. Once I opened an .md file, the styles applied perfectly. Thanks!
