Just as a note for what we have right now:
https://github.com/nytm/wf-kyt/blob/master/cli/commands.js#L13 makes sure the user root repo is set right from the beginning and isn't constantly recalculated.
and is set in the kyt.config for files to use

We now restrict users to run commands from the root of their project. Closing...
