Where does the first timestamp come from? Maybe you're using a logger that adds a timestamp too (eg. check the flags you're passing to the file logger).
from go-logging.
It looks like the first timestamp is always present in the output and comes from "default" formatter.
I have modified the Full Example:
package main
import (
"github.com/op/go-logging"
)
var log = logging.MustGetLogger("test")
func main() {
// Customize the output format
logging.SetFormatter(logging.MustStringFormatter("▶ %{time:20060102-15:04:05.000} %{level:.1s} 0x%{id:x} %{message}"))
// Run one with debug setup for "test" and one with error.
for _, level := range []logging.Level{logging.DEBUG, logging.ERROR} {
logging.SetLevel(level, "test")
log.Critical("crit")
log.Error("err")
log.Warning("warning")
log.Notice("notice")
log.Info("info")
log.Debug("debug %s", "secret")
}
}
and got following output:
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.053 C 0x1 crit
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.054 E 0x2 err
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.054 W 0x3 warning
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.055 N 0x4 notice
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.056 I 0x5 info
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.056 D 0x6 debug secret
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.057 C 0x7 crit
2013/12/17 11:45:48 ▶ 20131217-11:45:48.057 E 0x8 err
All I need is to add millisecond to the timestamp.
Thank you for your help.

Yes, you'll need to set the logger to use. Try something like this;
logging.SetBackend(logging.NewLogBackend(os.Stderr, "", 0))
