Unfortunately we cannot do this, as this would make it possible to define a non-convergent Mutator. Prepending a path or including a path in assignDomain could make the mutator non-idempotent.

If you are curious about this design philosophy, our Mutator Dynamics design doc goes into more detail.

If you really need this behavior, I would recommend writing a custom mutation webhook.

Hi! I've hit the exact same problem.
We have virtual registery in GCP, and I do need to replace this:

jetstack/cert-manager-controller:v1.11.0

with this:

europe-west2-docker.pkg.dev/project/registry-name/jetstack/cert-manager-controller:v1.11.0

So basically in my case ideal solution would be:

  parameters:
    assignDomain: "europe-west2-docker.pkg.dev/project/registry-name"
