How do I exclude pre-existing packages in catkin workspace directory from building with final "catkin_make"? about open_ptrack

If the pre-existing packages are already compiled, they are not compiled again by catkin_make.

Why?

1. Because ROS's tutorials use ~/catkin_ws as example.
2. On our Portland State University MCECS Robot, Jeeves, we started with "catkin_ws" as a catkin workspace and now it contains gazillions of PRODUCTION stage functioning nodes.
3. The supervising engineer for this bot, Richard Armstrong, is like you, an Einstein in Soft Eng, etc, but he was uneasy with my idea of having second catkin workspace, (what I think would be "overlaying" catkin workspaces, or just having second one. But my intuition tells me that it is just another catkin workspace and will be found because they are "sourced" in ~/.bashrc.
