Trap Nightmare seems to use a random number generator. Maximum result equal to the Trap Nightmare level plus 20 odd. If the number that comes up is higher than the mares Dreamsoul, the mare drops. If its lower, the mare doesn't.

So, for the AoE art.... it might be upped to Release Mare level plus 40 or 50? Still means you wouldn't be hunting Ago's with it until 50 plat (currently, you can't solo trap ago's without smacking them around until Trap 76... and that's like, one in a hundred evokes that you'll get the ago). But you'd be able to hunt Emphants and Bogroms right away... and Ago's successfully with some reliability at about high 60 plats. Shams Might become doable at some point, but I think they've got 150 dreamsoul... so even with the level+50, you couldn't solo hunt them.

I guess I always assumed it was a percentage of success chance, but your description makes much more programming sense.

So, the art wouldn't prove usual as an alternative to hunting for higher sphered dreamers until after 70 plateau?

What would we say is the average sphere a combat oriented hunter starts hunting agoknight? 3rd sphere? 4th? If so, I would think that Release Mare should be increased be able to hunt agos with some reliability at said sphere. Agos are not at all a challenge with focal 30 or 40 Chakrams. So, maybe the algorithm would have to be changed to ramp up the bonus based on plateau differently.

Like, base is RNG 1-100 + (20*plateau level). That would give you a 50% chance of collapsing an emphant unplatted, 1% chance of collapsing an ago unplatted, 40% chance of collapsing an ago at 2nd plateau, 60% chance at 3rd Plat.

If that's too strong, maybe reduce the focal cost to 5 to allow for more opportunities but reduce the (20plateau) to (15plateau) or something. Numbers can be tweaked obviously.

Not knowing the exact calculation makes it hard to come up with exact numbers, but you get the idea.

Ultimately you should be able to use Release Mare as reliably as standard hunting but with little to no gain in essence collection over regular hunting.

If this is a problem, then I'd suggest you speak to your friendly KoiWare, LLC representative and ask them to define a sensible procedure for the submission of feature requests. I am not willing to accept ad-hoc GM PMs as a form of approval any longer.
