Your problem is an interesting one that really pokes at the limits of a centralized schema. Obviously, sources shouldn't have to coordinate with (or even know about) each other. I think the solution should allow for multiple transformations, so a single transformable property probably won't cut it. I'll mull this over for a bit...

We probably want to support some level of source-specific configurations per-model-field. However, a generic transformable attribute that's not source-specific won't work. Let's think about how to make this source-specific.
